PACIFIC YOUTH & SPORTS CONFERENCE: 2013
From the first PYASC positive experience, the New Caledonia Government has expressed an interest to host the conference in Noumea. Therefore, the Oceania Football Confederation, the New Caledonia Government and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community were pleased to organise the second edition from 2nd to 6th December 2013, with the Meeting of the Youth & Sport Ministers of the Pacific on 7th December 2013.
Following the call from the leaders of the Forum in Auckland (September 2011) and in Rarotonga (August 2012), the conference was organised in 3 themes:
- Health – how sport can be used to tackle non-communicable diseases, prevent sexual disease and teenage pregnancy, improve mental health
- Education / Capacity building – how sport can be used to promote school attendance, develop lifeskills, promote active citizenship
- Social Inclusion - how sport can be used to fight against domestic violence, anti-social behaviour and promote inclusion
